the absorption of musical styles from disparate
eras. His influences range from jazz greats Fats
Waller, Bud Powell, and Chick Corea to rockers
like Professor Longhair and Rick Wakeman. Born
in 1967, Roberts grew up in Lebanon Pennsylvania
and began playing professional gigs around the
age of 14. Roberts graduated from Berklee
College of Music, Boston Mass. in 1989. He has
since pursued a wide array of musical careers as
a performer, arranger and music director.
Currently, Andy Roberts is the house
musicdirector for Timbers Dinner Theater in Mt.
Gretna Pa. and the American Music Theater in
Lancaster Pa. He also enjoys a career of gigging
in various clubs around Central Pa and
Philadelphia with some of Pa's finest musicians.
As a band leader, Roberts has lead and co-lead
several different projects as vehicles for
original music and arrangements. Current bands

Parade, and the Andy Roberts trio. He has been
music-leader for Soul.Com a contemporary worship
service at The Church of the Good Shepherd since

Ed Wise born and having
grown up in Houston, Texas, he began his study
and love of the string bass at the age of
twelve. At fifteen, he discovered jazz and began
a life-long journey of the study, practice and
performance of America's musical gift to the
world. At age seventeen, Ed was performing with
Houston's legendary tenor saxophonist Arnett
Cobb and sitting in at local jam sessions with
visiting jazz greats Sonny Stitt, Rashaan Roland
Kirk, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and
others. Upon graduation from high school in
1973, Ed pursued his education at the
world-renowned University of North Texas
(formerly North Texas State University), earning
a bachelor of music degree and a master's degree
in jazz performance with a minor in composition.
As a graduate student, he conducted the "4
O'Clock Lab Band" and was the bassist for
the famous "1 O'Clock Lab Band".
During his time in the Dallas area, he gigged
with local jazz artists including pianist Red
Garland, former Jazz Messenger Marcel Ivery and
tenor sax legend James Clay. As bassist for the
Dave Zoller trio, he backed up Eddie Daniels,
Carl Fontana, Jim Hall and other name artists.
Also during this time, Ed toured with New
Orleans legend Al Hirt, Texas R&B star
Delbert McClinton and the Smothers Brothers.
Performances with Billy Eckstine, Cab Calloway,
Frank Sinatra, Jr. and Vic Damone rounded out
his busy schedule.
Orest 'Arty' Artymiw
began violin at age 5. By age 8 & 12, Arty
appeared as soloist with the Philadelphia
Orchestra by winning the children's
competitions. Arty studied with Morris Shulick,

Patynka Kopec and Robert DePasquale. Arty
attended PCPA (Phila. College of Performing Arts
currently known as University of Arts) where he
recieved Bachelor Music degree in '81 and
Bachelor Music Education degree '85. Even with
the wealth of education Arty received, he is
self taught in improvising and the numerous
styles of music he plays. Blessed with
"perfect pitch", Arty quickly adapted
to the musical styles of bluegrass, country,
jazz, swing jazz, classicrock, progressive
fusion rock, celtic, folk and First Thursday
Jazz at MJ's Coffee House klezmer
starting in '77. Arty has performed with
numerous bands including The Underwoods, Jez Hot

Jimmy Roselli, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant,
Roger Daltry and John Entwhistle, Moody Blues,
Meatloaf, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Rod Stewart,

Dave Zygmunt, drummer,
was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania.
Before Dave had even graduated from high school,
he already had two European tours under his
belt. He auditioned and was accepted into the
United States Navy Music Program and graduated
from the Armed Forces School of Music. He toured
across the United States and Canada. His
performances with the Navy Show Band have
spanned the globe from South America to the
South Pacific, from the Pacific Northwest to
West Africa, and from British Columbia to the
Caribbean. While still a member of the Navy
Band, Dave also found much success as a
freelance artist in all the areas in which he
has lived. He was especially active in the
Virginia Tidewater music scene, where he
performed in small jazz groups, big bands,
rhythm & blues bands, and Top 40 bands. Dave
is especially at home in the small-group
setting. He performed as a member of Random
Abstract, one of a few jazz combos asked to
participate in the Seattle Free Jazz Festival.
The group also performed in the Earshot Jazz
Festival in Seattle. Dave performed in and led
many dynamic ensembles both as a career military
musician and as a freelance artist. He is
currently Performance Studies faculty in
Percussion at Dickinson College. He also leads
his own jazz group, The Dave Zygmunt Group,
based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and can be
heard frequently in the surrounding area.
MJ's offers a light sandwich and snack menu
along with a relaxing atmosphere perfect for
live music. Also, the coffeehouse staff invites
patrons to bring their favorite wine or
champagne to this event, providing of course,
that they are 21 years or older.
